Facsimile editions

In his overview of "Tendencies in Schumann research" which the Schumann researcher and long-time director of the Robert Schumann House in Zwickau, GerdNauhaus, prepared for the Schumann-Handbuch [Schumann Handbook], published in 2006 by J. B. Metzler, edited by Ulrich Tadday, and which he kindly made available to the Schumann Forum in an enlarged version, the author mentions as a special desideratum his wish "nachmehrqualitätvollenFaksimila von Werkmanuskripten, die jakeineswegsnurästhetischenBedürfnissenRechnungtragen, sondern "neueBahnen" der Werkanalyseeröffnen" ["for more quality facsimiles of manuscripts of works that by no means merely satisfy  aesthetic needs but also open up "new paths" for the analysis of musical works". The number of facsimiles of Schumann autographs available to date is indeed fairly clear.
